SHANE GEIST, WICHITA STATE STUDENT INTERN
Shane Geist is a student intern working toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. He works with adults ages 18 and older and offers a supportive, collaborative space for clients to explore their concerns and move toward meaningful change.
Shane draws from several evidence‑based approaches, including Person‑Centered Therapy, Solution‑Focused Therapy, and Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT) for couples. His style is grounded in the belief that “sometimes you just need someone to talk to.” From that foundation, he helps clients identify goals, build on strengths, and develop practical steps for moving forward.
When working with couples, Shane uses IBCT to help partners understand emotional sensitivities, external stressors, and repetitive conflict patterns. He supports couples in balancing acceptance of differences with intentional behavioral changes that strengthen their relationship.
One of Shane’s favorite tools is the Miracle Question, which invites clients to imagine what life could look like if their struggles were resolved. It opens the door to hope, direction, and possibility — and often becomes the starting point for powerful work together.
